I weave on a 48″ 16-harness AVL Compu-Dobby loom in my studio. This is an impressive loom, both in size and capabilities. I use Dobby weaves, which are repeating, geometric shapes or motifs. These weaves produce reversible fabrics that give my clients two distinct looks from one piece.
My creation process has multiple steps. I always start with an assessment of color and pattern. It is important that the colors and pattern are precisely aligned. First I design all my proprietary patterns using ArahWeave. Then I transfer those patterns to the Weavepoint program that interfaces with my AVL Compu-Dobby loom. Only then do I begin to weave the fabric.
